Town are hoping that they will receive permission for Darren Ambrose to return on loan from Newcastle United. Ambrose completed his move to St James' Park yesterday, a deal worth just £1 million to Town initially.

Town manager Joe Royle felt his side should have had their game with Brighton won by half-time such was their first half display. However, the Town boss felt nervousness crept into his side's play in the second period.

Town will rue the failure to take several first half chances and a second half missed Darren Bent penalty as Brighton took a point back to Sussex. The Blues went ahead in the first half through Marcus Bent but Brighton improved after the break and Tony Rougier scored twice before Martijn Reuser put Town back on terms.

Town's play-off hopes were given a huge boost by a 3-1 win at home to Reading. With Wolves drawing 0-0 against Stoke, Town are now two points off Forest and three behind David Jones' side. The Blues' goals came from Thomas Gaardsøe, Matt Holland and Jim Magilton with Reading's via Nicky Forster.
